Summer Preparation Clinics for competitive water polo athletes. World-class coaching meets championship mindset training.

June 6 & June 13, 2026 • Oaks Christian School • Thousand Oaks, CA

MORE THAN A CLINIC

Most water polo clinics focus on what happens in the pool. We start with what happens between the ears.

Champion Academy is a Summer Preparation Clinic designed to combine elite technical and tactical training with structured mindset development. Athletes don’t just drill — they journal, set goals, and write a personal mission statement for their summer.

The result: players who walk into tryouts in the fall with both sharper skills and a clearer purpose.

Technical & Tactical Training

Skill work, game film, positional strategy from coaches who’ve developed Olympic-level athletes.

Mindset Breakout Sessions

Journaling, goal-setting, personal mission statement writing. Not fluff — structured exercises that stick.

Summer Preparation Focus

Timed perfectly before summer leagues. Don’t waste June. Come in with a plan.

YOUR COACH

Serela Kay — Champion Water Polo Academy Head Clinician

SERELA KAY

Head Clinician • CIF Championship Coach • National Team Staff • 25+ Years in Water Polo

Serela Kay has spent over two decades developing water polo athletes at every level—from first-time club players to Olympians.

Most recently, Serela served as Assistant Coach at Oaks Christian School, where the Lions captured the 2026 CIF Southern Section Open Division Girls Water Polo Championship. She knows this pool, these athletes, and what it takes to compete at the highest level of high school water polo in the country.

As a player, she was a four-year starter and team captain at UCLA, where she helped the Bruins capture three NCAA national championships (1997, 1998, 2000). She competed on the USA Junior National Team and won gold at the 1996 Junior Pan American Games.

As a coach, Serela has led programs at UC Santa Barbara (where she became the program’s all-time winningest coach and first-ever Big West Coach of the Year), the University of Hawaii, the University of Maryland, Princeton University, and UC Berkeley. She served on the USA Water Polo Youth National Team coaching staff for six seasons and was part of the U.S. Women’s Senior National Team staff that won gold at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome.

Serela holds a degree in Psychology from UCLA, a Master’s in Sport Science from the United States Sports Academy, a Master’s in Education from UC Berkeley, and an MBA from the University of Maryland.

At Champion Academy, Serela brings the same standard she’s held at the collegiate and international level—but designed specifically for young athletes who are ready to take their game and their mindset to the next level.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

My daughter came home from the clinic with a journal full of goals and couldn’t stop talking about the mission statement exercise. This wasn’t just another pool session.

Placeholder Parent, Thousand Oaks

The coaching quality was unlike anything we’ve experienced at other camps. You can tell these coaches have worked at the highest level.

Placeholder Parent, Westlake Village

We signed up for the skills training but the mindset work was the real game-changer. My son went into summer club ball with a completely different attitude.
